In a nation where "Ignorance is
Strength" and "War is Peace" and where "Double-speak" can lead to "Thought
Crimes," it might be understandable that some might see this as
possibly the Death of Dreaming. Yet, in this place where power has become,
not the means, but an end in itself: We must now find ways to prevent love
from becoming hate; so that this wounded planet can emerge from the nearly
finished prison that we've built with inattention. Welcome to the New
World Order!
This country is being run by
creatures that have lied to us about every single thing they've
done-yet-people still listen to them. How is that possible! Not only do
these imposters LIE, they are stealing everything that's not nailed down,
while they rob us blind. If the public were awake they would not accept
anything this government says-about anything-ever again! In business or in
life LIAR's must be ostracized, shunned, ignored at the very
lest-preferably imprisoned. But in America-incorporated, people treat
these liars, as if they deserved respect? In the real world "respect"
never comes with a title or an office, it must always be earned.
There are no weapons inspectors
for the US, the UK or Israel yet the US has the largest arsenal of nuclear
weapons in the world. Preaching Peace and waging War - it was the US that
opened the door for "Terror" in the world today. It was our policies
created the resistance that we call terrorists. If we want peace then we
should change these polices-yet all we get is "Stay-the-Course!"
Writers of late just can't figure
out why so many people simply don't want to know; will not listen; nor
will they choose to see, what's happening everywhere that
America-incorporated has chosen to intervene around the world. There is a
video that has potentially many of the answers to this mystery and one
that casts real light on the how and why of what got us into this mess in
the first place. (1)
Here is a rough transcription of
what Arundhati Roy says in part, in her video of "WE."
"George Bush has said the US
is the most peaceful nation on earth. Yet the US has been at war every
year for fifty years. Wars are fought for hegemony, for business, and of
course there is the business of war. All of this has been about oil,
because whoever controls oil controls the world's markets.
The 'Hidden-Hand' of the world's
markets cannot work without the 'Hidden-Fist.' The Hidden-Fist that keeps
the world safe for Silicon Valley's technologies to flourish is called the
US Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corp. This is the definition of the
New World Order.
After September 11, 01 both the
Hidden-hand and the Hidden-Fist have had their cover blown; McDonald's
cannot flourish without MacDonald-Douglas. Now we can see the other
weapons of the 'Free Market' bearing down on the Developing World with
that clenched unsmiling smile that never ends. America's perfect war has
the perfect vehicle for this task that never ends, which is the perfect
expansion for imperialism. In the last ten years of unbridled corporate
globalization, the world's total income has expanded by an average of two
and a half percent a year; and yet the number of poor in the world has
increased by one hundred million. Of the top biggest economies-51 are
corporations now-not countries. The top one percent of the world has the
same income as the bottom 57 percent, and that disparity is growing.
Now under the spreading canopy of
the War-Against-Terror this process is being hustled along. The
men-in-suits are in an unseemly hurry while bombs rain down on us and
cruise missiles skid across the skies, while nuclear weapons are
stockpiled 'to make the world a safer place.' Contracts are being signed,
patents are being registered, oil pipelines are being laid, natural
resources are being plundered, water is being privatized and democracies
are being undermined. In India the structural end of the corporate globalization project
is ripping through people's lives: development, massive privatizations and
labor reforms are pushing people off their land and out of their
jobs-resulting in a kind of barbaric dispossession that has few parallels
in history.
Across the world as the
Free-Market brazenly protects Western markets, and forces Developing
Countries to lift their trade barriers: the poor get poorer and the
rich-richer! Civil unrest has begun to erupt in the global village. In
countries like Argentina and Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia and India the
resistance movements against corporate globalization are growing. To
contain this, governments are tightening their controls. Protestors are
being labeled 'terrorists'- then being dealt with as such. But civil
unrest does not only mean marches and demonstrations and protests against
globalization-unfortunately it also means a desperate downward spiral into
crime and chaos and all kinds of despair and disillusionment-which as we
know from history, and from what we see unspooling before our eyes, has
become a breeding ground for terrible things: Cultural nationalism,
religious bigotry, fascism, and of course, terrorism. All of these march
arm-in-arm with corporate globalization. There is a notion, gaining
credence, that the Free-markets break down national barriers; and that
Corporate Globalization's ultimate destination is a Hippie paradise where
the heart is the only passport, and we will all live happily together
inside a John Lennon song: 'Imagine there's no country!'
What the Free-market undermines
is not national sovereignty-but democracy! As the disparity between rich
and poor grows, the Hidden-Fist has its work cut out for it-multinational
corporations on the prowl for sweetheart deals that yield enormous
profits: but they cannot push through these deals and administer these
projects, in developing countries, without the active contrivance of state
machinery in the police, the courts, and sometimes even the army. Today
corporate globalization means the international confederation of loyal,
corrupt, preferably authoritarian governments in poorer countries-to push
through unpopular reforms. It needs a press that pretends to be free it
needs courts that pretend to dispense justice. It needs nuclear bombs,
standing armies, total integration laws and watchful coastal patrols to
make sure that it is only money, goods, patents, and services that are
being globalized: not the freedom of the people, not a respect for
human-rights, not international treaties or racial-discrimination or
chemical or nuclear weapons, or green-house gas emissions, or climate
change-or god forbid-justice! It's as though even a gesture toward
international accountability would wreck the whole enterprise. Meanwhile
down at the mall there's a mid-season SALE. Everything's discounted:
Oceans, rivers, oil ~ flowers, childhoods, aluminum factories, phone
companies, wisdom, wilderness, civil rights, equal systems, air-all 4,600
years of evolution-it's packed, sealed, tagged, and valued; and available 'Off-the-shelf' - NO RETURNS! As for Justice, I'm told that it's on
offer too-you get The Best-that-Money-can-Buy!
Because as Donald Rumsfeld has
said: 'Americans must be allowed to continue their way of life.' ~ The
American way-of-life is simply not sustainable, because it does not
acknowledge that there is a world beyond America.
Fortunately 'power' has a shelf
life. When the time comes maybe this mighty enterprise will, like others
before it, over-reach itself and implode from within. It looks as though
structural cracks have already appeared. As the War-Against-Terror casts
its net wider and wider, America's corporate heart is hemorrhaging.
For all the endless empty chatter
about 'democracy' today the world is run by three of the most secretive
institutions in the world: The International Monetary Fund (IMF), the
World Bank, and The World Trade Organization (WTO) - all three of which
are dominated by the US. Their decisions are made in secret. The people
who head them are appointed behind closed doors. Nobody really knows
anything about their politics, their beliefs, or their intentions. Nobody
elected them. Nobody said they could make decisions on our behalf. A world
run by a handful of greedy bankers and CEO's who nobody elected, cannot
possibly last." (End of Quote.)
History has a way of dealing with
absolutes of any kind, especially despotic governments in service to
criminal enterprises that masquerade as nations. (2)
True: History has never had to deal with nuclear weapons or WMD's on the
scale that these exist today. However the planet has experienced worse and
the planet will survive: the human race on the other hand - may not!
Ordinary people designed these constructs that tower over us today, and
because these are human projects they are filled with those things that
will in-the-end bring them all down. Strip away all the flags and macho
strutting, and all that's left is just another set of barbarians out to
steal that which is not theirs. And, as they are criminals, they cannot
ever trust each other, much less the actual plans they've laid so far:
which is why the RUSH is on, to get to the next step and open new wars to
cover for the horrors of the wars already lost. If these people have their
way, this world will look more like "Lord of the Flies" or
"1984" than anything that these would-be thieves could ever
manufacture.
At the moment the cabal is caught
mid-stride: neither connected to Iraq and Afghanistan, nor yet committed
to Iran and Syria: NOW is when the public must begin to scream our
discontent-because this may be the last time to let the world know just
exactly how much we hate this whole idea of pillage and plunder and rape
and murder just to keep our "American way of life" in a starving
and dying world that was never ours to destroy!
