The White House has announced that it will spend the next three days
attacking anyone and everyone who disagrees with the president's view of
his unilateral actions, as either president or as Commander-in-Chief. He
will be doing this, he says, to defend his obligation to protect the
American public from "terrorists." However Bush has other equally
serious obligations to the American public that he has steadfastly ignored,
undermined, or murdered outright, but if he gets away with this - none of
that will matter.
From the beginning Bush and his Bandits have tried to make everything
appear to be very simple - black & white choices that will not abide
serious questions or even constitutional challenges. So far, the public has
been reluctant to buy into this throwback to his medieval view of life and
governance. Now it comes down to how this shall end, and what the USA will
become if we do not stand and fight over this blatant total takeover
attempt that is in its final stages.
Apparently too many have forgotten that this government had prior
knowledge of the attacks on 911 and chose to warn their friends. Militarily
by way of preparation for 911, this government organized "war
games" in the Northeastern quadrant of NORAD for that same day, in
which the targets of those games were the twin towers of the World Trade
Center. The exercise was overseen by Vice-President Dick Cheney on 911 and
was the reason that no American fighter planes appeared in the skies over
New York until after the hour and forty-five minutes that it took to
complete the attack on New York and Washington D.C.
None of this crucial information was officially involved in any of the
investigations into the events of 911. "Prior Knowledge" and the
direct diversion of established North American Air-Defense procedures both
go to the heart of what really happened on that day. Just as Congress has
never shown any real interest in discovering the validity of the part
played by Osama bin Laden, or the factual errors reported by this
government surrounding the attacks - neither have they shown any interest
in knowing anything that might disagree with the official line on 911, as
defined by the White House. Instead the leadership in congress has chosen
to be complicit in the continuing cover-up of the real facts that have
brought the world to this moment in time.
The framers of the Constitution lived in a very different universe than
ours. Because of their experiences under tyrants in Europe, our
Constitution was likely crafted specifically to protect people from
potentially overly ambitious government control. Hence it seems that the
framers never intended the title of Commander-in-Chief to relate to
anything other than direct control over the military. Given the
Colonialists experience how could they have willfully chosen to allow
future US Presidents to become legal dictators - under any circumstance?
If you believe Bush; then whenever the USA enters a war, there is only
one operative branch of the US government: Because if he has his way, both
the Congress and the Courts will be prevented from having any oversight or
authority over anything he chooses to do, regardless of the Constitution or
of any laws-on-the-books that might modify or limit his ultimate powers
over all the people in this land.
If Mr. Bush has his way he can now make the laws, ignore the
constitution, and deny the courts their constitutionally assigned role of
interpreting what he does when he acts irresponsibly or unilaterally. If
Bush gets his way this time, this grab will effectively destroy the checks
and balances of the three part government that the Constitution created.
This would effectively make Bush the Dictator he has always wanted to be.
No amount of spin can remove these treasonable facts of what he clearly
seeks to do.
Until now most have chosen to let Congress deal with what appears to be
a president and a government that is completely out-of-control. Congress
mumbles about investigating, but then we get nothing more than belabored
cover-ups that are not even worthy of mention. Currently the Senate
Intelligence committee is promising to look into this mess, but the
Chairman of that committee has already announced that Impeachment is NOT an
option, so how tough will this new dog and pony show really be? The reason
Impeachment was written into the constitution was to create a way to remedy
political corruptions without a civil war. Unfortunately, apparently the
framers did not envision a time when both the courts and the congress might
be complicit in presidential treachery. With a tainted Supreme Court and
without an honest Congress what it comes down to is courage versus fear,
among a population that has only recently begun to track the realities.
The White House and their co-conspirators stand for the absolute
imposition of FEAR on all levels, and with terror as the only justification
for any excess that they choose to indulge in. Who then will stand for the
courage needed to slay this farce, on the national stage? McCarthy tried
intimidation with his witch-hunts in the 1950's - and finally was exposed.
Then LBJ had his moments with what we now know was the lie of The Gulf of
Tonkin Resolution that became the Vietnam War - the one very public war
that we ultimately lost. Nixon had his Enemies Lists and his White House
Tapes which ended when Congress allowed him to resign, rather than face
impeachment (because Nixon would have taken too many of them down with
him). But then came Reagan with his "Evil Empire" and the promise
of very simple definitions for the complex world of international
diplomacy. Now we have Rove who has expanded on the black and white farce
of the inherent right of global dominance that was written into the
doctrine of "Manifest Destiny" - a doctrine that is now being
visibly destroyed throughout the Southern Hemisphere, in election after
election that has been over a hundred years in the making.
In every area where there is a presidential responsibility to the public
- this administration has failed repeatedly, at every level. The
appointments made by this administration have unearthed a level of
incompetence that was here to for unimaginable, and still there was little
more than a murmur of complaint. Katrina was the Petri dish for all that
has been wrong with everything from Homeland Insecurity, to every current
government program, to how any person will be treated by this government.
What more proof could be required that there are major failures in
everything that this government is doing at all levels - yet the public
simply accepts each new failure as though there is nothing to be done.
If you look at these events through the eyes of the man who stole his
first presidential election with the blessing of the US "Supreme
Court," and then got away with it again in 2004: It is easy to see how
he might not fear anything from so docile and cowardly a population.
Perhaps that's why Rove is banking so completely on the FEAR cards of
"911" and "terror" that have worked so well for them to
this point.
However, there is now the Abramoff scandal, coupled with the collapse of
American Automotive preeminence, and job losses that continue to deplete
the future. Bush policy on Iran is threatening to destroy the world's
access to oil - because despite whatever damage his and Israel's war
machines might be able to do to that country, Iran has the capacity to shut
down the Gulf, and could interrupt the world's oil supply if the Neo-Cons
exercise their military fantasies in the Middle-East. Nations are forming
new alliances to sideline America's strategic interests around the world,
and the focal point for these colossal shifts in global political and
strategic interests is due to none other than the forces that put George W.
Bush into office, in 2000.
The petty vision of the Neo-Con's has always been to take this nation
back to the days of the Robber Barons, back to the times when all that
mattered were the fortunes of the wealthy. Back to the times before there
were rights for women, back to the time before there could even be the
possibility of equality between the races. Back to the time before the
concept of medical or educational benefits for those who worked, and some
kind of future for those who grew too old to continue to work.
Make no mistake the goal now is nothing less than a completely
compromised US government, that massive faceless institution will become a
shell that exists only to pay corporate welfare, but one that can never
threaten the New Robber Barons with anything like real fines for criminal
behavior, much less prison. The Banks and Insurance Companies, the Oil and
Gas Industries, The Military-Industrial and Congressional Triad, and the
Health Maintenance Organizations along with the Drug Companies are already
there. All that remains in the hourglass are the few grains of sand that
still hold some promise for the few that are willing to oppose these
criminals.
The Department of Justice has finally come out in the open. Until now it
has been a fiction guided by political appointees whose recent tasks have
been to destroy justice while instituting compliance by the public in a
system of Injustice that makes the Nazi's look like amateurs. Ashcroft was
worse than a joke, but Gonzalez wrote the articles on torture, and for US
presidential power that has no limitations - yet he is treated by the media
as some kind of authority to be taken seriously - because regardless of
what he says, neither he nor Bush have been asked any of the hard questions
that must come from a free and democratic society, especially in a time of
war.
Recently Brian Bogart wrote:
"Fear is the entrance to the death of change. Courage is our
greatest asset when darkness descends. How much time do we have left to
speak freely? Our silence is the sound of our time running out.
If we fail to spend our lives for justice, our world becomes our prison.
What is life but slavery if we cower in the brilliance of an unseen power
unworthy of our fear?
Do not make yourself at home in the corner of your cell. Instead, block
the blinding effects of the Panopticon by stepping forward into its light;
it is a sentry of empty lies, a machine that stops the progress of life
only if you let it. Even the walls of your cell are mere curtains made of
lies."
Brian's words appear to contain what should become part of the next
three days of official spin, because this coming attack upon our way of
life by Bush should become something that needs to be answered on every
front, from everyone who gives a damn about this world.
