This is supposed to be a country of laws, where no individual is above the
law.
Given the scandalous outcome of the much anticipated Steroid Scandal that
once swirled around illegal drugs for millionaires and for the pampered sports
figures of national fame and fortune: That tired axiom is certainly dead and
buried now!
Standing in line for coffee this morning, with the morning papers staring
back at us, we were three people of different races and viewpoints with of no
real power between us - yet we each saw the same thing immediately. The
"System" has gone way passed being a joke. In this System our laws no
longer shield the innocent; instead the laws that once protected us, have become
the weapon of choice to exonerate criminals, and punish the public in the
process. Law "enforcement" has become a militarized weapon, in the
hands of corrupt judges and prosecutors that enables them to defend the guilty,
and laugh at the system while "justice" is barred from even entering
the proceedings.
Case in point: "40 of 42 BALCO charges dropped" reads the headline
and the article goes on to say "federal prosecutors announced they had
dropped 40 counts of a 42-count indictment against three men accused of
providing the drugs to elite athletes. In exchange, the men pleaded guilty to
felony charges that will leave them with relatively brief prison terms, or no
jail time at all." Of course one must remember that these are the
multi-millionaire cream of the crop in professional athletics that might have
been affected - had there actually been a trial - but take trillion dollar
industries, public figures with huge followings, add in lawyers appropriate to
the task and you will get less than a slap on the wrist!
The three of us knew that these "charges" had been about a drug of
choice for the elite, against prominent members of the entertainment division
for the overlords and masters that keep our sports circuses running - so their
case was "special." If any one of the three of us had committed such a
crime, (and literally made millions from it) we knew we would lose all the
profits made, along with paying heavy fines, nor would any of us ever see the
light of day again.
We had to laugh at the obvious farce that "the law" and so-called
justice has become. Someone commented that it was interesting that the second
tier story of the day was about the Governor having to forego his "second
job" (5 million for writing promos for the same kinds of drugs that these
three individuals had just been charged with providing to sports figures) - all
this while the rest of us have to carefully weigh the cost of a coffee in the
morning.
Whatever happened to US Attorney's, and the State Attorney Generals - never
mind The US Attorney General, a former presidential advisor who designed the
torture practices in Abu Ghraib and who is a crook so deeply involved in
creating criminality for the president to carry out that he has had no time to
even consider what goes on in ordinary law enforcement. If there were any
justice in this world, then power brokers would have to fear being summarily
lynched; but this is the fifth year of the Outlaws and none of "their
people" will ever face anything tougher than a slap on the wrist - will
they?

So who protects the people, now that law enforcement has become militarized,
when it comes to ordinary minor violations of the law - while they look the
other way whenever one of their own higher-ups has been accused of a crime?
"To Protect & Serve" has become "Protect the Powerful &
Punish the People." Our "System" would be a disgrace, even in a
Banana Republic - yet we put up with this as if it were normal or even fair -
because to complain about this bastardized form of law enforcement could result
in bogus charges, possible harassment, arrest, or even death.
As this pattern of lawlessness continues to expand its realm of boundless
criminality for which there will be no consequences - the society continues to
suffer evermore, until we will have to return to "frontier justice"
just to obtain any consequences at all for lawlessness committed by the
fortunate fifth, regardless of what they do in pursuit of their pleasures or
their personal wealth.
In these days of "heightened security" the cops are lounging at the
entrances to subway stations, as though their presence amounts to something.
Their patrols have all been stepped up, as if by just patrolling the streets
more feverishly they can somehow catch the "terrorists." And everybody
knows that it's all a huge and galling lie! The terror that most people are
finally coming to fear resides in Washington, in Tel Aviv and London: it rests
in groups like MI5 and MI6, the CIA, and the MOSSAD - beyond that, most know
that they have little to truly fear.
The truth is out there for anyone to see, anyone that is who looks for
themselves, and doesn't take direction from the grossly mismanaged
"news" as it is fed to us by corporate controlled media. How long will
it be before people begin to tally up the facts? The fact for instance, that the
Pentagon does not count those who die on the way to Germany, in Germany or on
the way home to the US as part of the war casualties from Iraq? That number is
well over 6,000 uncounted dead, and is part of the reason that military deaths
are classified secret - because with that number added to the officially
admitted toll, then US death rates in Iraq would be well over 9,000 - and that
might force our token puppets to have to reconsider?
Or there is the smallish fact that since suicide car bombing records began to
be kept twenty-three years ago, there had been only 315 in the world, until Iraq
II. Now that figure now stands at well over 500, in Iraq alone. And while the
world is still wringing its hands over the London Bombings, yesterday there were
over 10 car bombings in Baghdad alone, and that number keeps on rising - we are
losing the war in Iraq by any measure than anyone can use to evaluate that
situation. Yet DENIAL reigns supreme!
The truth in Iraq is, there is no end in sight and the resistance does not
want us to leave; they want us to fight and die and continue to drain our
resources, while lying to the world about how pitifully the Bush war is being
waged. The cowards that unilaterally launched this fight, have no stomach for
it, and they have failed at every decision point they faced - but do we demand
that they be replaced - No! Do we demand that the troops, those people that we
say we love be brought home - No! Instead we allow our leadership to remain in
denial, while we pretend that all is going well, in this chaos that we've traded
in for what our country was. But now things have come down to domestic justice,
to balance and to some degree of fairness in what was once the bedrock of any
decent society - The System of laws and consequences that is termed "The CRIMINAL - Justice system."

When the Patriot Acts were written and implemented, people mumbled about it
being somehow necessary to destroy the guarantees in the Constitution, because
we had somehow become involved in global warfare. How does providing steroids
for multi-millionaire-dollar athletes protect this nation - and why do we allow
this blatantly criminal and completely two-tiered system of so-called Justice to
exist? The answer is we cannot!
The powerful: from politicians to law enforcement need to be viewed the same
way they view us - they are GUILTY of corruptions of the highest order, until
they can PROVE that they are innocent of all unspecified charges, in each and
every case. As for "journalists" they should all be considered liars,
until they can rediscover what it means to ask real questions and demand
reasonable answers to tough questions about everything that is handed to them,
by those they are there to question on behalf of the general population.
The free ride that reporters give to anyone in any kind of authority needs to
come to a screeching halt. The qualifications for all offices, whether political
or appointed needs to be completely and thoroughly checked and rechecked in
public - by the press - before anyone takes whatever any official says as having
any credibility whatever. "Secrecy" whether corporate or governmental:
If it's the public's business it needs to happen in the open, because if we are
old enough to vote, we are old enough to handle the truth. Yes - it has come to
that - because the weight of all the lies has simply become too heavy to bear
any longer!
The shield that once represented authority and the protections which that
authority stood for has become the mark of the enemy - and the only way to
differentiate the good guys from the outlaws is to demand the above checks and
balances in all future actions by any government from the counties up through
the cities and the states to include ALL federal agencies and employees! If we
fail to do this, we shall deserve the Outlaws and all their deviant ways!
Those who have the time might want to ask their own Attorney General how this
kind of charade can even be considered, much less tolerated - because if this
case is allowed to set this precedent, then where will the future of law or
enforcement finally come to rest?
