The new day has finished dawning in
America – the day that Ronald Reagan promised we would all have to look
forward to. His dreams of mega-government masquerading as leaner, meaner,
more responsive government; the government that’s been ‘taken off the
backs of the American people’ is here.
Now the retarded republicans want to deify this
bumbling fool who was once a president of the United States. Welcome to
the future!
The
headline this morning says: “Regan image, New Deal for the dime?” In
the middle of a falling dollar, and the fortieth straight month of job
losses in manufacturing, the craven fools in the caves of neo-con thought
now want to revise the portrait on the US dime. They are demanding that we
eliminate Roosevelt and replace him with Reagan. Given that Reagan is the
man they wish to idolize, and that he is the same man who ran on a
platform of smaller government, but who in reality increased the size of
government about 300 %; and given that he took the nation from the worlds
leading creditor nation to the depths of being world’s leading debtor
nation – I guess that’s not surprising.
Given
also that this is the same man who created the homeless problem in America
by closing the nursing homes, and throwing the mental cases and the
addicts into the streets, as a cost saving measure, and then: he
privatized public transportation, and anything else that he could lay his
hands on. So perhaps this newfound interest in idolizing such an
individual should come as no surprise. Still, this “brainstorm” from
the extreme right gives rise to the possibility of a complete revamping of
the American monetary system.
Since
we will shortly be losing much of the “value” that was once attached
to our money (along with everything else we once put value on or in) –
why not just completely reorganize the system?
Let’s
dump the pennies, the nickels and the dimes – they’ve really been a
waste of time for quite awhile now. We should then alter all our remaining
money to more accurately reflect the character of our new dictatorship.
First – we need to lose the
eagles from all of it. That proud bird has no place on our privatized and
scandalized money any longer: the vulture on one side and a turkey on the
other should replace it. All the former US presidents should be retired.
They were symbolic of a time when there were laws that still governed the
behavior of all of us, including those who reside at the thousands of
political troughs in America. Instead we should place the premiere thugs of
this administration, on what money we will still be given to use as though
it has some value.
Cheney on the One thousand dollar
bill, Rumsfeld on the five hundred dollar bill, Rove on the 100 dollar bill,
Condoleezza on the fifty, Ronnie on the twenty, “Wolfowitz” on the ten,
and Tom DeLay on the five, leaving the lowly one for “W” who can be
shown giving the world the middle finger, with his classic trademark smirk
to seal the bargain.
On the coins we should have
Ashcroft on the fifty-cent piece (as that will remain unused), and on the
quarter Rhenquist needs to be immortalized with a vulture for the backside.
We’ll obviously need to change all those grand sounding phases – from
what is there now to something like “our way or no way” and we should
find ways to integrate the double-speak that has been responsible for the
colossal shift in what this nation has now become:
In
George Orwell’s classic novel 1984, the ‘Ministry of Truth’
declares: “War is Peace” – “Freedom is Slavery” and “Ignorance
is Strength.” To these hallmarks of double-speak the Bush administration
has now added some obscenities of their own: “Promises are Prosperity”
– “Bankruptcy is Wealth” and of course; “Lies are Truth”!
In
this NEW millennium that “W” was so proud to bring to us; wrapped
tightly in the American flag, but being very richly red in both tooth and
claw – isn’t it past time that we called things as they are?
We have no democracy any longer as long
as protestors are kept a mile away from all presidential appearances, unless
they favor the dictator. Any attempt to actually demonstrate against US
policies is met with arrest, beatings, and worse by thugs in uniform, who
have no legal right to curtail free and open discourse on the streets of
America.
The government’s justification
for this behavior is that” “We are at WAR.” Well here’s a flash
for you, when have we not been “at WAR”?
Discourse
is the only avenue open to a free people to resolve the problems of the
day, and when that is arbitrarily banned, supposedly for security then the
entire national ethic has been denied.
Couple
this with the top-heavy weight of all the laws that have been altered in
favor of oppression of the voices of the people, and it is clear that law
no longer matters in this “morning-that-now-approaches Midnight – in
America.” Too strong? Just look at the track record of those who have
demanded all the changes. The Patriot Act, both one and two were put in
place to remove all judicial and legal barriers from law enforcement in
their quest to find and bring “to justice” – the bad guys. So by now
several years into this global manhunt, what have been the results of this
complete remaking of the constitution, and the country’s expectations?
Osama bin Laden, Omar, the Anthrax bomber, and now Saddam – all have
variously graced the top of the list for Most Wanted by the FBI and
HOMELAND Security – and none of them have been captured or killed. One
hell of a lot of people have been rounded up, interrogated, deported, and
gone missing. Thousands of people have been denied their normal rights –
especially those seeking to protest this administration – and what has
been the result?
Bush
has raised almost $300 million for his re-election campaign, an awful lot
of people have died in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and hundreds of
thousands have been injured, damaged or just thrown away – in this
government’s pursuit of all that they deem to be holy in this world –
namely all the booty they can steal.
At
the same time all 50 states are having major financial problems, the
dollar is in real international jeopardy, our real jobs have gone
offshore, or are on the way – and the nation is being rapidly reduced to
the status of a third world country. Meanwhile the fortunate fifth at the
top of the financial pyramid, are not threatened by prosecution for their
crimes, (actions which lined their already stuffed pockets, with more
ill-gotten millions, sometimes billions for the insider’s key players)
– and where has the Congress or the FBI been in all of that?
This
is a dictatorship by any measure – and we need to stop the pretense and
call things what they are, if we are ever going to alter this farce that
passes for what used to be the United States of America.
