The Lost Society

September 2003

We have begun the next election cycle. But this time elections will arrive in a time that exists outside of any time that we have ever known before. This idea that was America, this concept that was created for the majority of its people – with the single provisional requirement that they each of us become and remain involved in the day-to-day functionality of that idea – is no more.

There’s a heap of blame and a zillion reasons but it all comes down to what we have allowed to happen now. When we had a civilized society, there were norms that needed to be observed, there were principles and guiding thoughts that were part of who we were. In that time we allowed ourselves to be governed by laws and not the whims of a few corrupt individuals. Those days are in the long dead past.

Since that time when individuality still held out the promise of a better way of life, we have chosen easier paths – the shortcuts and the simplistic jargon of the ever-impatient perennial adolescents that are now trying to take the world into the oblivion that was created by the pirates, for a few more blood-soaked dollars. Their greedy power plays hardly justify the ensuing contamination, the corruption and the chaos.

There is a little boys club called Scull & Bones. Its members thrive on adolescent fantasies of petty greed and banal power.

Theirs is a world unto itself, a world that we might think of as the Scull & bones mentality. In that world there is a huge difference between those who would play by the rules or laws (us) and those who seek to thwart all of that (them). For the few, who live the Scull & Bones mentality, what it takes to ‘get by’ is always superceded by what one must do to ‘get ahead.’ And the price for that childish fantasy is the destruction of the civilized society that most people in the world have been trying to build for centuries.

The worst part of this nightmare is that these silly little boys of privilege are the ‘untested’ ones, those with too much easy money and no experience necessary for the positions they hope to someday steal in the wider world at large. These are the people who hide behind their connections to the upper crust and to their own ideas of bravery: A concept that does not involve any real risks – any real challenges, or the threat of possible consequences for any of their actions. This is because they will always be protected from above – sheltered from the true price of their cowardly actions. And until now they have gotten away with this charade of privilege – this farce of leadership. Maybe it’s time that this ‘secret society’ had a thorough public airing. An inquiry in which any and all of its members will finally have to answer for their actions to the rest of us, to all those who have suffered at their collective hands down through the years.

In this coming election cycle anyone who runs for public office should willingly acknowledge that this political system of ours is broken. Anyone who fails to mention this glaring fact cannot be considered as a real candidate – but must be seen only as a continuance of "more of the same." By a different name perhaps, but only that, and those who will not concede the facts are definitely not people who will honestly represent the needs and aspirations of the vast majority who are in need of real leadership and a complete renewal of all things political.

In a street-fighter’s world, the people that have led this coup are nothing more than pirates pretending to be men and women. Because in the streets there is a price to be paid when lies are discovered. Why not then does this axiom not hold true for the boardrooms and the drawing rooms of the rich and powerful – is it because all will lose if any are exposed? Is it not time that we speak out – tell it like it is, while there is still some shred of a society left to save?

Our political parties are a farce that border on a national fraud upon the people that they claim to represent. Our system is filthy with corruptions at all levels, kickbacks, payoffs, where murder and conspiracies are only the opening bids for admission to the inner circles of power. To remain silent in the face of this kind of open criminality, to choose to remain blind to what we are doing by remaining silent, is itself a crime of complicity. Is that what it means to be an American?

In this world we are all dependent upon each other in a myriad of ways both small and large. We have watched in silence while our network of civilized behavior was destroyed – and collectively we have said nothing. When we allowed the little boys of Skull & Bones with their dirty secret society to freely flout the laws and principles of behavior – we opened the door to far greater abuses. Now our very foundations, not just here in this country, but around the world are being torn apart because we chose not to raise our voices against the outrages, against the tyranny, and most of all against the lies.

One example of this failure are the American jobs that we have allowed to be exported to feed the bottomless pit of corporate greed, created by these bandits who know no allegiance to anyone save themselves. www.truthout.org/

These ‘insiders’ have stolen our constitutional rights, our foreign policy, our jobs and our dreams and we have hardly murmured a word in protest. Those of us who actually work for a living have become third-class citizens - second-class belongs to those who have no real power, but who yearn to belong to the "power elites" (which itself is a double version of an oxy-moron).

Maybe many of us have never known how to fight for what is ours – maybe some of us have refused because we are afraid. But whatever the reasons might have been before – the results are now clear for all to see and the time to begin to act is here and now.

The Skull & Bones stands for piracy in all things – and we cannot co-exist with them. So either we destroy that organization and outlaw its doctrines and its former members for all time, or we begin to learn how to live on our knees in service to their every future whim. This is not about collegial pranks, or a fraternal organization – this is about a group that has come to think of itself as our masters. We need to begin to think about this – now.

If we chose not to do this then the perhaps the stars and stripes will need to be replaced by the Jolly Roger, so that at lest the pirates will be operating under their own true symbol; that flag of death and plunder that they find to be the only thing worth living for!
